The Electricity Tariff
(RESIDENTIAL - TARIFF A)
BLOCK CHARGE
Monthly Block 1 = 10
units x B$0.25 = B$2.50
Next Block 2 =
60 units x B$0.15 = B$9.00
Next Block 3 =
100 units x B$0.10 = B$10.00
170 units = B$21.50
Remaining Block = ( Remaining unit )
x B$0.05
(eg. if consumption is 400 units,
first 10 x B$0.25 = B$2.50
next 60 x B$0.15 = B$9.00
next 100 x B$0.10 = B$10.00
Remaining [400 units - 170 units =] 230 units x B$0.05 = B$11.50
total bill for the month for consuming 400 units is B$33.00)
(COMMERCIAL - TARIFF B)
BLOCK CHARGE
Monthly Block 1 =
10 x KVA x B$0.20
Next Block 2 =
100 x KVA x B$0.07
Next Block 3 =
100 x KVA x B$0.06
Remaining Block = ( Remaining unit )
x B$0.05
(eg. if a commercial consumer having 27kva and consumed 6000 units in a particular
month the calculation should be as follows :-
first [ 10 x 27 (KVA) =] 270 units x B$0.20
= B$54.00
next [ 100 x 27 (KVA) =] 2700 units x B$0.07 =
B$189.00
next [ 100 x 27 (KVA) =] 2700 units x B$0.06
= B$162.00
Remaining [6000 units - 5670 units =] 330 units x B$0.05 = B$16.50
ie. total bill for the month for consuming 6000 units is B$421.50 )
Note:
Maximum Demand (MD), measured in KiloVolt
Amperes (KVA), is determined by the Department for
each consumer according to the energy
consumption (capacity applied for) in the following manner:
- If conventional electromechanical meter is used, MD is
determined
by the percentage of the standard main fuse rating given at the time
of application for the supply (a minimum of 60% of
the rating), or
- If prepaid meter is used, the minimum value of MD
that is allowed
for by the Department is 40% of the standard main
fuse rating, or
- For both light and heavy industrial consumers, MD is the
maximum
KVA registered over one half hour per month.
If a consumer wishes to change his MD, he is welcome to apply
to the Department
in writing for a minimal fee of $20.00. Because of the availability of
special features and to encourage usage of prepaid meters the Department
had introduced the second method since the introduction of the meters
about five years ago. For temporary supply MD is the actual fuse rating.
